DAY 01

ARRIVAL DAY

Welcome to Havana! You will be met at the airport by your local guide to Cuba and driver who will accompany you through the entire program. Start your trip off with a panoramic overview of the city. You will stop at the remarkable Revolution Square and see the statue of Cuba’s national hero, Jose Marti, and a famous depiction of revolutionary heroes, Che Guevara and Camilo Cienfuegos. Drive around the vibrant Vedado district. Along the way, you will see a wide mixture of architectural styles and testimony of Cuba’s different influences: Spanish, British and American.

After hotel check in the evening, be whisked away by a classic American car! Breathe in the fresh ocean breeze and warm sunset along the Malecon. Drive past the Capitol, and Prado promenade. After a magical car ride, arrive at a typical paladar, a privately-owned restaurant, for a fusion-style meal well created to commemorate your first night in the iconic Havana.

DAY 01

ARRIVAL DAY

You will arrive in Havana and will be transported to your hotel. You will be met at the airport by your local guide and driver who will accompany you through the entire program. First day in Havana starts with a panoramic overview of the city that includes a stop at the remarkable Revolution Square where you will see the statue of Cuba’s national hero, Jose Marti, and famous depiction of revolutionary heroes, Che Guevara and Camilo Cienfuegos. Drive around the vibrant Vedado district. Along the way, you will see a wide mixture of architectural styles and testimony of Cuba’s different influences: Spanish, British and American.
After hotel check in the evening, be whisked away by a vintage American car! Enjoy the ocean breeze and marvel at the sunset as you drive along the Malecon, Capitol area and Prado promenade. Arrive at a typical paladar, a privately-owned restaurant, for a fusion-style meal well created to inaugurate your first night in the iconic Havana.

DAY 02

OLD HAVANA & HEMINGWAY
Start your day with a visit to a cigar factory. You will have the opportunity to interact with an expert in the field to learn about the process of rolling the famous Habano cigars. Walk through Old Havana to learn about the historical importance of many of its beautiful buildings, many dating to Colonial times. Be introduced to the restoration and preservation process of its most elaborate buildings. Take in the history of Havana on foot through four of its main squares: Plaza Vieja, Plaza de Armas, Plaza San Francisco de Asis and Plaza de la Catedral.

Visit the fisherman’s village of Cojimar where Hemingway docked his beloved “Pilar” and where he was inspired to write The Old Man and the Sea. Go for lunch at a nearby paladar and then depart for Hemingway’s home Finca Vigia (Lookout Farm) located in the town of San Francisco de Paula. Peer into the windows and admire items left in the house by Hemingway when he departed to the United States, including more than 8000 books, personal relics and rare collections.

Head back to Old Havana and visit the San Jose Craft Market located along the seaside. Traverse the market at your leisure. Exchange stories with the local artists and vendors to learn about being an entrepreneur in Cuba.

Return to the hotel. Dinner will be on your own tonight, but your guide will be happy to provide some suggestions for Havana night hangouts.

DAY 02

HAVANA
Your first visit will be to a Cigar Factory where you will have the opportunity to interact with an expert in the field to learn about the process of rolling the famous Habano cigars. Walk through Old Havana to learn about the historical importance of many of its glorious buildings, many dating to Colonial times; be introduced to the restoration and preservation process of its most elaborate buildings. Discover the history of Havana on foot through four of its main squares: Plaza Vieja, Plaza de Armas, Plaza San Francisco de Asis and Plaza de la Catedral.

You will be provided free time to purchase souvenirs at the market while exchanging stories with the local artists and vendors to learn about the current opportunities in Cuba to setting a privately-owned enterprise. Return back to the hotel. Dinner will be on your own tonight, but your guide will be happy to provide some suggestions to enjoy Havana night hangouts.

DAY 03

FUSTERLANDIA & LAS TERRAZAS

Visit Fusterlandia, a community project started by renowned Cuban artist Jose Fuster, “the Picasso of the Caribbean”, who transformed his entire neighborhood into a colorful mosaic and artistic mecca.

Escape the city and explore beyond Havana on this journey to a magical natural reserve. Just an hour drive west of the capital is an intriguing place where you’ll encounter majestic nature, art studios, natural river pools, and coffee plantation ruins: Las Terraza. You will have a walk around the region with a naturalist who will provide you with information on the local flora and fauna. Enjoy a typical Cuban lunch at a local restaurant and interact with the community residents.

Return to your hotel and get ready to enjoy your last dinner in Havana at one of the most popular paladars in town.

DAY 03

HAVANA

Return to Havana City hotel and get ready to enjoy your farewell dinner at one of the most popular “Paladars” in town.

DAY 04

OFF TO VARADERO
After enjoying your last breakfast in Havana, you will continue your Cuban journey with a two-hour transfer from the city of Havana to Matanzas, one of the most picturesque cities of Cuba, famous for its culture, religion and beautiful beaches. Matanzas is known as the City of the Bridges and the Athens of Cuba due to the cultural development achieved in the 19th century.

On the way, enjoy a brief stop at the Bacunayagua Bridge, one of the seven wonders of Cuban civil engineering from which you can admire the beauty of the Yumury Valley.

Arrive at Matanzas and walk through the historic center to visit the Triolet Pharmacy & Museum. Opened in 1882 as a pharmacy, it preserves many of the original objects of its time. Lunch will be at a local paladar. Conclude the day with a guided visit to the famous Casa DuPont also known as Xanadu Mansion. Tour the emblematic DuPont house. Enjoy a beautiful view of the Varadero beach with a Cuban mojito at the wonderful rooftop bar of the mansion.

After checking in at your hotel in Varadero, enjoy dinner at one of the many venues you have available at your hotel. The rest of the night is for you, ask your guide for some nighttime hangouts.

DAY 04

HAVANA-VARADERO
After enjoying your last breakfast in Havana, you will continue your Cuban journey with a two-hour transfer from the city of Havana to Matanzas, one of the most picturesque cities of Cuba, famous for its culture, religion and beautiful beaches. Matanzas is known as the City of the Bridges and the Athens of Cuba due to the cultural development achieved in the 19th century. On the way, there will be a brief stop at the Bacunayagua Bridge, one of the seven wonders of Cuban civil engineering from which you can admire the beauty of the Yumury Valley.
Arrive to Matanzas, walk through the historic center to visit the Pharmaceutical Museum Triolet. This museum – pharmacy is one of the most prestigious in the city. Opened in 1882 as a pharmacy, it preserves many of the original objects of its time. Lunch in a typical or privately owned “Cuban paladar” Conclude the day with a guided visit to the famous Casa Dupont also known as Xanadu Mansion, tour the emblematic Dupont house, with a beautiful view of the Varadero beach while you are enjoying a
Cuban mojito at the wonderful rooftop bar of the mansion.
After checking in at your hotel in Varadero, enjoy dinner at one of the many venues you have available at your hotel.

DAY 05

SUGAR & SALSA
Your day begins with a visit to Cárdenas, a city that economically flourished in the past due to the production of sugar. Visit the Jose Smith Comas Sugar Mill & Museum. Taste a guarapo beverage, a squeezed sugar cane juice very typical in Cuba, and learn about the history of the sugar cane industry in the island.

Continue the tour with a visit to the small city of Cardenas, known for its many monuments such as the oldest statue of Christopher Columbus built in Latin America, Monument of the Giant Crab, and the Monument of the Bicycle and Horse Carriage. Visit the second oldest museum in Cuba, the Oscar Maria de Rojas Municipal Museum. This museum has a large and remarkable collection of items from the colonial era. Discover Garden of Tropical Plants of Matanzas, which has a great variety of medicinal and aromatic plants.

After this visit, you will return to your hotel in Varadero for lunch.

Later, meet with local dancers at the hotel poolside for an interactive salsa lesson. Tonight, choose and reserve one of the different hotel venues and enjoy an unforgettable farewell dinner. The rest of the evening will be at your leisure.

Matanzas

DAY 05

VARADERO
Your day begins with a visit to Cárdenas, a city that economically flourished in the past due to the production of sugar. Visit the old sugar mill “Jose Smith Comas”, converted into a museum.
