ARRIVAL DAY

Welcome to Havana! After making your way through customs, your local guide to Cuba and driver will pick you up. Enjoy a panoramic overview of Havana, including Vedado, Universidad de La Habana, and the Malecon.

Your local guide and driver will take you for a light lunch at a local paladar, a privately owned restaurant. After lunch, you will be taken to your hotel for a private check in and welcome cocktail!

Take some time to get settled in and relax at your leisure. Your local guide will take you to a delicious dinner at a paladar.

After, be dropped off at the Havana International Jazz Festival Opening Gala. Be immersed in the music and life of jazz artists from around the world.

Your local guide will return you to your hotel at the end of the evening.

OLD HAVANA & SALSA

Fill up on breakfast at the hotel for an exciting day! Enjoy a walking tour of Old Havana with your local guide to learn about the history and recent restoration projects of this UNESCO World Heritage site. Wander through the 4 major plazas: Plaza de la Revolucion, Plaza Vieja, Plaza de la Caterdal, and Plaza de Armas.

Visit Callejon de Hamel and explore the roots of the Afro-Cuban religion, Santeria. Admire the fabulous mix of art, music, and traditions. Attend a live music, drums, and dance show.

Lunch will be at a local paladar. After, get your heart going and learn to salsa with professionals during a salsa lesson at the rooftop bar in Hotel Sevilla with the ICM band.

Your guide will return you to your hotel for leisure time. Dinner is on your own tonight. Your guide can give you some ideas on local paladars to try.

In the evening, you will be dropped off for the 2nd night of the Havana International Jazz Festival.

Your local guide will return you to your hotel at the end of the evening.

Jan 18

MODERN HAVANA & DANCE

Breakfast will be at your hotel. Start the day with a scenic tour of Modern Havana. Visit the Institute Superior de Arte, the most prestigious art school in Cuba. Exchange with students and teachers about modern and historical art in Cuban and their influences.

Enjoy lunch at a local paladar. Continue to a visit to Habana Compas Dance Project. Here you will enjoy a performance of contemporary dance through percussion sticks and chairs and Cuban rhythms. This troupe puts its own stamp on contemporary dance. After the performance, interact with the dancers for an in depth understanding of their art.

Return to the hotel. Dinner will be at the Habana Cafe where you can enjoy a performance by Buena Vista Social Club.

The rest of the evening is at your leisure, your guide can help you with some local nighttime spots.

LAS TERRAZAS & FUSTERLANDIA

Eat breakfast at your hotel. Escape the city and explore beyond Havana on this journey to a magical natural reserve, Las Terrazas. An hour drive west of the capital, a majestic UNESCO Biosphere Reserve holds beautiful flora and fauna, natural river pools, and coffee plantation ruins. You will have a walk around the region with a naturalist to learn more about the community, reforestation projects, and sustainable farming efforts.

Visit the Polo Montañez Museum. Once his house, it now holds artifacts of the life of this acclaimed Cuban musician. With no professional training, Polo wrote several songs that turned him into an international star before if untimely death in 2002 at the age of 47.

Enjoy a typical Cuban lunch at a local restaurant and interact with the community residents.

On the way back to Havana, visit Fusterlandia, a community project started by renowned Cuban artist Jose Fuster, “the Picasso of the Caribbean,” who transformed his entire neighborhood into a colorful mosaic and artistic mecca.

Dinner with be on your own tonight. Check out some good eats around your hotel.

After dinner tonight, your guide will take you to the  4th night of the Havana International Jazz Festival.

You will be returned to your hotel after the evening.

MUSIC & ART

Breakfast at your hotel. Visit Abdala Recording Studio. Built in 1998, the studio has grown into a world-class hot spot for Cuban musicians and artists. Tour the facility, learn the intricacies of sound recording, meet and greet with staff, engineers, and recording artists.

Visit Muraleando Art Project. Located in the outskirts of Havana, the project has transformed the area into a thriving art collective. The goal of the project is to bring children off the streets of Havana and inspire them through music, dance, and art.

Lunch at a local paladar.

Your local guide will return you to your hotel to get ready for your American classic car ride! Be whisked away in a classic car for a twilight cruise through Havana and the Malecon. Be dropped off for a farewell cocktail and hors d’oeuvres at Miglys.

Continue on to the closing ceremony for the Havana International Jazz Festival.

After, you will be returned to your hotel.

DEPARTURE DAY

Your Cuban jazz festival journey has come to an end. Your local guide and driver will pick you up from your hotel and drop you off at the Havana International Airport!
