ARRIVAL DAY

Welcome to Cuba! Meet your local guide and driver outside the airport and begin your 3-night Havana Marabana Marathon adventure!

Enjoy a panoramic tour by bus through some of the most iconic sections of the city and see a wide mixture of architectural styles and the testimony of Cuba throughout different eras: Spanish, British, and American.

Be dropped off at your hotel and check in. Spend the afternoon at leisure, or head to a local restaurant for lunch.

In the evening, be whisked away by an American classic car on your way to dinner at a popular paladar. Use this 1-hour ride for a one-on-one interaction with the drivers who have meticulously restored these vehicles which were first imported to Cuba in the 1940’s and 1950’s.

Drive along El Malecón, now shimmering under the setting sun’s rays, and through the capital. This evening, meet and exchange with various Cuban sports legends to learn about the Cuban athletic system and its international successes.

Welcome to Cuba! Meet your local guide and driver outside the airport and begin your 3-night Havana Marabana Marathon adventure!

OLD HAVANA & HEMINGWAY

Early in the morning, have a hearty breakfast at the hotel before setting out on a full day of sightseeing and a sneak peek at the Marabana Marathon.

Walk through Old Havana to learn about the historical importance of many of its glorious buildings, many dating to Colonial times. Here you will be introduced to the restoration and preservation process of its most elaborate buildings. Discover the history of Havana on foot through four of its main squares: Plaza Vieja, Plaza de Armas, Plaza San Francisco de Asís and Plaza de la Catedral.

Go by El Capitolio where the traditional start line of the Marabana Marathon is located. Inspect the site and get familiar with the layout and logistics before the big event the next day! Complete the participant registration, pick up your bib numbers, and go through a medical checkup.

Go for lunch at a nearby paladar and then depart for Hemingway’s home Finca Vigía (Lookout Farm) located in the town of San Francisco de Paula, where you will see where he wrote two of his most famous novels. Peer into the windows of the house to admire items left behind by Hemingway when he departed to the United States, including more than 8,000 books, personal relics, and rare collections.

After, return to the hotel. Tonight will be on your own, so rest and power up!

After a nice breakfast at the hotel, depart for El Capitolio to meet with organizers from the National Institute of Sports, Physical Education and Recreation (INDER) and arrange your position.

RACE DAY SCHEDULE

  • 5:00 to 6:50 am: Access to the starting gate
  • 7:00 am: Start of the race
  • 10:00 am: Awards ceremony for all winners
  • 1:30 pm: Race finished

Return to your hotel and have the afternoon to your own leisure. For the last night, enjoy a farewell dinner at a local paladar with a meal that blends classic Cuban flavors with a touch of modern kitchen styling.

MARATHON & AWARDS

Today is the big day!

After a nice breakfast at the hotel, depart for El Capitolio to meet with organizers from the National Institute of Sports, Physical Education and Recreation (INDER) and arrange your position.

  • 7:00 AM – Marabana Marathon has officially begun, good luck!
  • 1:30 PM – The end of the race! Follow the race with a press conference, the results, and awards.

Return to your hotel and have the afternoon to your own leisure. For the last night, enjoy a farewell dinner at a local paladar with a meal that blends classic Cuban flavors with a touch of modern kitchen styling.

Your Cuban journey has come to an end. Be picked up from your hotel and dropped off at the airport by your local guide.
